Midseason Memo
Dear Members,
As we reach the midpoint of our season, we want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and commitment to making the club a welcoming and enjoyable place for all.
We want to take this time to recognize our former Assistant Manager, Sarah Nelson. Sarah grew up here as a young member and later a dedicated member of our team for the past eight years. Sarah is now enrolled in medical school and we wish her our very best. We will miss her passion and commitment to our club and are excited for her future.
We also want to share a few important announcements to ensure the remainder of our season runs smoothly for everyone.
Lifeguard Scanning Drills
To ensure the highest level of safety at our pool, the Club will be conducting periodic Lifeguard Scanning Drills over the coming weeks. During these recognition drills, lifeguards will be tested on their ability to quickly locate objects placed in the pool within a set time frame. You may or may not notice them and there should be no disruption to your day.
These exercises are an important part of maintaining sharp vigilance and fast response times, all in an effort to keep our members safe.
Treatment of Staff
Our staff works hard every day to provide a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience for all guests. Part of their responsibility includes enforcing the rules that help maintain a positive environment. These rules are in place for the benefit of everyone, and we expect them to be followed.
We ask that all members and guests treat our staff with the same respect and courtesy they would expect in return. Any disagreements or concerns regarding a staff member’s actions or decisions should be directed to a manager. Confrontations with staff members will not be tolerated, and failure to handle concerns appropriately may result in being asked to leave the premises and your membership suspended or revoked.
Glass at the Pool
(Again) For everyone’s safety, glass is strictly prohibited on the property (inside and outside pool areas including parking lots and entrance). If glass is broken near or in the pool, we are required to close the pool until a full inspection and cleanup can be completed to ensure no shards remain. This not only poses a safety risk but also causes significant disruption to all members. Please help us avoid these situations by using only non-breakable containers.
Fireworks
We’ve received several questions about why we no longer host a fireworks display. While we understand this was a popular event, we want to be transparent about the costs involved. In our first year of hosting fireworks in 2020, we were able to do so due to the cancellation of public displays during COVID, and the cost at that time was approximately $4,000. Since then the price, like everything else, has increased considerably and this year the cost would have exceeded $13,000+.
Hosting an event at that cost would require a significant increase in membership fees. At the end of last season, we surveyed members and 76% voted against raising fees to cover the cost of fireworks. We plan to survey members again in the future to gather more input, but at this time, the expense remains prohibitive.
We appreciate your understanding as we continue to prioritize the events and amenities that best serve the entire membership.
Early Arrivals and Front Gate Access
We have noticed that early arrivals, or “early birds,” blocking the gate are inadvertently preventing our staff and vendors from accessing the facility. In order to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of services, we kindly ask that any members arriving an hour or more before the club opens park across the street at Youth’s Benefit. This will help maintain clear access for our team and vendors, ensuring that the club can open on time each day.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we strive to create a fun, safe, respectful and inclusive environment for all members and employees. If you have any questions or comments. Please email fallstonclub@gmail.com.
Thanks,
Jamie Myers
